These never-before-seen photographs of former President Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and their staff on 9/11 (Sep 11, 2001) show the shock, horror and gravity of the terrorist attacks from inside the White House’s secure bunker, President’s Emergency Operations Center commonly known as PEOC.
On Friday, The National Archives finally released a trove of photographs of former President George W. Bush and former Vice President Dick Cheney in the aftermath of the Sep 11, 2001 (9/11) terrorist attacks on World Trade Center and Pentagon. These images were released in response to a Freedom of Information Act request, showing a very tired, stressed, and devastated morale amongst the top officials in the George W. Bush administration.
The photographs were taken by Dick Cheney’s staff photographer, captured the dreadful terrorist attack from a perspective that has never been seen before. These photographs depict the Bush administration responding to the tragedy. Most of the photos are taken from inside the PEOC, including images of Bush’s staff watching the president address the nation following the attacks.
