This poem by the wife of a Vietnam war soldier will tell you what love is

When this woman found a secret poem, all about the story of her parents marriage, she had no idea that she was about to be taught a very important lesson on love…

The author of this poem was an ordinary woman, whose husband was drafted into the army. He went to the battlefields of Vietnam when their daughter was just four years old. And, from the point on, she and her daughter only had each other. Her husband was sadly killed on the battlefield, leaving the woman a widow – until she died of old age.

When her daughter was organising her mother’s remains, she discovered this wonderful poem her mother had written, titled ‘But You Didn’t‘. And it has left us feeling utterly heartbroken.

But You Didn't - Poem by the wife of a Vietnam war soldier

We never know when will be the last time we see someone we love. We never know which goodbye will be the last one, which kiss will be the final one and what will be the last thing we ever say to each other.
